Halloween Party Idea of the Day – Halloween Dinner Party

Invite a small group of friends over for a grown up dinner party. Choose a theme such as Gothic, old horror films (Dracula, Frankenstein) etc. and decorate and plan a menu with the theme in mind. Send out handmade spooky invitations, asking your guests to come in costumes that relate to the theme. This is fun for a small group of adults on Halloween, as a way to celebrate the holiday in grown up style. You could also have a theme for your party, such as Wizard of Oz, and invite each guest to come as their favorite character. There is a whole new line of Oz costumes out this year, including a Flying Monkey Costume that is quite menacing.

Gothic Halloween Party Decor

Are you wondering how to decorate for your upcoming Halloween party? How about a Gothic look for this year’s party? It’s easy to do and very chic. You don’t need much, it’s more of an understated look that gives off a very creepy vibe. You’ll want to put away the typical Halloween decor and pumpkins and such if you are going for the Gothic look. Or else move it to a different area of the house, that’s what I did. You can pick up a lot of pieces at a local thrift store. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

Black ravens perched on wall hung mirrors or artwork-this is a somewhat menacing look, and may remind Hitchcock fans of the movie “The Birds.”
Black candelabras with melted candles in them, preferably dark purple (you can spray paint the candelabras)
Black tablecloth for the dining room table. Use black sheets to cover anything too pleasant looking
Bouquet of dead flowers as the centerpiece (buy fresh about 2 weeks before and let them die)

Flying Monkey Costume & The Wicked Witch of the North

This is one of my favorite ideas because I have always been a big fan of the Wizard of Oz. I’ve been Dorothy for Halloween in years past, but this year is the first time I’ve seen Flying Monkey Costumes. If you have a group, you can expand the concept to other characters such as Tin Man, Scarecrow, Lollipop kids, and of course someone gets to be Dorothy.

Barrel of Monkeys
This is a really funny concept that will definitely bring a lot of laughs to the party. There’s an adult “Barrel of Monkeys” costume and then a partner, child, buddy, or even a group can go as other monkeys. Very family friendly, and fun for kids and people that can really ham it up.

Michael Jackson and his Monkey Bubbles

There’s a huge interest in Michael Jackson costume styles this Halloween, and you can easily turn that into a couples costume by adding Bubbles the Monkey (costume not real monkeys please!) This is sure to be the surprise hit of the party!

Monkey See and Monkey Do

This one is a cute idea for a mischievous pair of kids. Use two identical kids Monkey Costume sets and make 2 signs for them to wear-one is Monkey See and the other sign should say Monkey Do. The pair can play act all night at this.

Halloween is one of those holiday celebrations that we remember so fondly from our childhoods. It’s one of those times we really look forward to sharing with our children.
