Halloween Decorating Tip of the Day – Graveyard
A graveyard set up in your front yard sets a great tone to your party as guests arrive. Use a fog machine, a coffin, and headstones. Headstones can be made with some Styrofoam available at craft stores, and gray spray paint for the headstone, black paint for the lettering. You could also hang a stuffed body from a tree to add to the spooky effect.

The Nightmare Before Christmas is a fun theme for a Halloween party, especially for Disney and Tim Burton fans. If you feel the characters from the movieĀ are too limited, you could always expand the concept and encourage your guests to come as their favorite Disney character. This idea lends itself well to couples, as there are many Disney couples to choose from. Mickey & Minnie Mouse Costume, Peter Pan and Tinkerbell, and of course Jack Skellington and Sally.
Halloween Party Idea of the Day – Halloween Dinner Party
Invite a small group of friends over for a grown up dinner party. Choose a theme such as Gothic, old horror films (Dracula, Frankenstein) etc. and decorate and plan a menu with the theme in mind. Send out handmade spooky invitations, asking your guests to come in costumes that relate to the theme. This is fun for a small group of adults on Halloween, as a way to celebrate the holiday in grown up style. You could also have a theme for your party, such as Wizard of Oz, and invite each guest to come as their favorite character. Keep it activity basedĀ so the tots don’t run wild. Treat bags work well, and with a large group you could even set up trick or treating stations throughout the home.

For a more low key party for older teens or adults, invite friends over for a horror movie fest. Choose 2-4 movies, make popcorn, order pizza and keep it easy. Choose a theme, such as horror classics, old horror movies, silly, scary, gory etc. You decide!

This is a great way to open the party, and as people arrive they can get started right away. Those who are arrive early have more time
for decorating. Hold a contest for funniest, scariest etc. Set up your space in advance; select a table and cover it in newspapers or a
disposable tablecloth. You might a protective layer underneath the tablecloth, as this activity can get sloppy. Assemble assorted
decorating supplies and tools, such as carving patterns (for grown ups only) buttons, pipe cleaner, paint, yard, beans, sequins, beads
and any other crafty supplies you can get your hands on. You might also want to do a few pumpkins in advance or have some photos printed
out for inspiration. Be sure to have enough pumpkins for each participant. For a teen or adult group, your entire party can be focused
on this single event. Buy the pumpkins early and enjoy them for decoration until the party.
